  I am a 61 year old martial arts coach. In recent years my hip joint has deteriorated to the point where I had constant pain and significantly reduced flexibility. This effected my ability to coach and I walked with a severe limp. Dr Ilan Freedman performed a total hip replacement on me. Due to the minimally invasive direct anterior approach and post op management, my recovery has been astounding. First week post op I used crutches. I began to walk increasing distance and at the 4 week mark I walked over 5 kilometers continuously. My limp and pain was gone and I had regained my flexibility. 5 weeks to the day I was back coaching martial arts. My colleagues and students commented that they couldn't believe how well I was moving. I cannot thank Dr Freedman and his team enough for the professionalism, the continuous encouragement and reassurance they have given me throughout the process. I have no hesitation to recommend Dr Freedman

  After being diagnosed with hip dysplasia and developing arthritis in my right hip, I was referred to Mr Freedman. I was immediately impressed with his professionalism, patience, kind manner, knowledge and his obvious passion for what he does. I had the Anterior Approach total hip replacement at Holmesglen Private Hospital. The operation was carried out under epidural and I was back on the ward within a couple of hours and walking the same day. Mr Freedman came to see me every day I was in hospital to discuss the operation and my progress. Within days, I was off crutches, driving within three weeks and had resumed nearly all pre-op activities at four weeks BUT without the pre-op pain! The scar has healed beautifully and is amazingly neat and small. Walking and cycling with no pain is wonderful, gardening is a joy and to be able to sleep the whole night through comfortably is great. On the rare occasion I needed advice, Mr Freedman answered my queries straight away, always happy to make time to see me during his busy schedule. Nina and Ally were always supportive and kind too. Mr Ilan Freedman is a wonderful surgeon and I highly recommend him, his wonderful team and the Anterior Approach - it really is the way to go!
